I enjoy getting a glimpse into the mind of creative people. It’s fascinating to learn how someone came up with something that has left a mark on society and will always be remembered. Which is why movies like the soon to be released “Love & Mercy” hook me.
“Love & Mercy” chronicles the story of Brian Wilson, the founder of the Beach Boys. The movie adapts his life story for the big screen by splitting Wilson in two – John Cusack plays the older, post nervous breakdown Wilson, while Paul Dano plays the younger, just at his peak Wilson. On the Cusack side of the story we meet the controversial Dr. Eugene Landy, played by Paul Giamatti, as well as Melinda Ledbetter, played by Elizabeth Banks, and the beginnings of her relationship with Wilson.
“Love & Mercy” opens nationwide on June 5th. Brian Wilson was at SXSW promoting the movie alongside the cast, which is a pretty good endorsement of the film, don’t you think?
